Flood Damage to Nature's Art Gallery in Scone
On August 15th a torrential downpour did some major damage to the Scone Mill, home of Nature's Art Gallery. Scone Mill generates electricity. The flood caused structural damage to the Mill and the owners do not have flood insurance since they are located in a flood plain. The Mill can be saved but they need help. Estimated costs to repair the mill could be $250,000. Donations can be made in CIBC in Chesley.
Scone Mill is the second oldest hydro generating plant in Ontario.

Excursion to Manitoulin Island
I had the opportunity to visit Manitoulin Island in July. The purpose was two fold. It served as a vacation for myself and my family and also gave me the opportunity to meet some of the artists that are either on The Art Map this year or in the past.
My visit corresponded with the Manitoulin Fine Art Association Art Tour on July 16, 17 & 18 which gave me a good opportunity to meet with Ellen Lewis and Leslie Morin near Mindemoya, Judith Martin in Little Current, Lynne Gerard in Gore Bay and Richard Edwards in Kagawong. Unfortunately I didn't have time to get to meet everyone. It just gives me a reason to go back again.
I've posted more images on The Art Map facebook page.

The New Maps are here!!
The Art Map 2010 is published!
Right now I'm working on the distribution of 20,000 maps. You'll find them in Collingwood, Thornbury, Clarksburg, Markdale, Eugenia, Kimberley and Owen Sound.
Over the next three weeks they will be showing up in other areas of Grey/Bruce and Manitoulin Island. Later they will be in other areas of Ontario. You can see the artists work on The Art Map web site
I have to move this blog to a new location because I upload it using FTP and I have to move it to blogger's host. I'm in the process of moving it. It isn't complete yet. I'll keep you posted.
I'll be at the Grey/Bruce brochure swap on May 6.

8th Annual Feast for the Eyes Juried Exhibition
Friday April 9, 2010 opening gala and Awards Ceremony from 7- 9 pm
"This exhibition features arts and crafts of emerging artists of all fine art mediums from Bruce and Grey counties, this unique exhibition, featuring the arts and crafts of emerging artists of all fine art mediums from Bruce and Grey Counties, serves as a venue for the development of regional artists while providing an opportunity for a vital community fund-raiser.
Feast for the Eyes links the mental, creative and spiritual benefits of art to another aspect of our basic needs: food for the hungry in our community. All artists who submit artwork to the jury for consideration are asked to donate a non-perishable food item to benefit the local food bank. All visitors to the gala and month long exhibition are also asked to donate a non-perishable food item for the community’s hungry.
Additionally, the opening night gala’s silent auction will raise funds for Southampton Arts Society, a registered charity founded in 1957, as well as the food bank. Bid to your heart’s content on fine art, gift baskets, gift certificates, giftware and collectibles with a “foodie” theme, to help bring awareness of the importance of the community food bank. Refreshments will be served and are sponsored by Harrigan’s 100 Mile Market/Red & White Store, Southampton."
See the web site for more details. Submission deadline is Saturday April 3, 2010
